Under the supervision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Kamel Baddari, and the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Mr. Youcef Cherfa, the National Saffron Cultivation Campaign was launched on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the National School of Agriculture. The saffron bulbs were planted at the central farm in the presence of the Director of CRSTRA, Professor Kachbar Mohamed Saif Allah, who emphasized the strategic importance of this promising sector, announcing the preparation of a comprehensive strategy to promote and organize the saffron industry. Two strategic partnership agreements were signed between CRSTRA and the National Institute of Forest Research (INRF), and between the National Center for Seed and Seedling Control (CNCC) and the National School of Agriculture (ENSA), within the efforts to valorize research outcomes, diversify the national economy, and strengthen Algeria’s position in the international saffron market.
